The NSA awards program recognizes the contributions of our individual members/volunteers and ASOs in furthering the work of the society and the profession. See your efforts rewarded and your ASO honored by nominating your ASO for one of the awards listed below.
ASO of the Year
The ASO of the Year was created in 2000 to honor the overall achievements of an ASO (seminars, membership recruitment, legislative activity, PAC, education) and its work in promoting and implementing NSA programs. What did your ASO accomplish this year? The key to this award is explaining in 500 words or less why your ASO deserves this award. The ASO of the Year receives a plaque and a $250 donation to an activity or fund of its choice. Who will join our winner's circle: Washington Association of Accountants (2000), North Carolina Society of Accountants (2001), Minnesota Association of Public Accountants (2002), Louisiana Society of Independent Accountants and Georgia Association of Public Accountants (2003), Louisiana Society of Independent Accountants (2004), Florida Society of Accountants (2005), North Carolina Society of Accountants (2006), Missouri Society of Accountants (2007), North Carolina Society of Accountants (2008), Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants (2009), Washington Association of Accountants (2010), Oregon Association of Independent Accountants (2011), and Alaska Society of Independent Accountants in 2012.

Keith Billings Memorial Awards
The Billings Memorial awards honors the most outstanding ASO publications, judged according to the importance of topics, coverage of activities, timeliness of articles and format and overall appearance. There are two divisions: states with 300 or more NSA members and states with fewer than 300 members. The Awards Committee selects the best ASO publications after reviewing the newsletters submitted throughout the year.
The National Editorial Award
Recognizes both the outstanding original article and a series of articles (2 awards) written by NSA members for their Affiliated State Organization publications. The Awards Committee selects those honorees while it reviews the ASO publications.
Charles W. McAllister Memorial Award
The award is presented to the ASO with the highest net growth in NSA membership based on membership size. Headquarters determines the recipients, based on membership figures.
The Myron D. Schreibman Award
This award is presented to the ASO judged to have the best public relations program. The Awards Committee makes this selection.
Although the nomination need not be in a specific format, it needs to describe the program and its goal, the ASO efforts and the effectiveness of the program. Samples of media coverage, scripts and other materials would assist in illustrating the program. Send these nominations to: mpanek@nsacct.org.
Accountancy Board Monitoring plaques recognize those ASOs that meet the criteria established by the State Regulation and Oversight Committee in monitoring the state accountancy boards. Monitoring reports are submitted throughout the year to headquarters.
